Dated via Jisc. Containing a vast selection of English prose including extracts from pieces by the most celebrated writers of English prose, from the days of Queen Elizabeth to those of Queen Victoria. Including writings of Lord Bacon, William Wordsworth. John Evelyn, Leigh hunt, &c. &c. Selected and arranged by Charles Mackay, Scottish poet and journalist best remembered for his book 'Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds.' Rebound in half calf over marbled boards, gilt tooling to spine, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally sound with minor shelf wear, lightly bumped to head and tail of spine and extremities, boards lightly marked. Internally, firmly bound. Odd faint minor spotting to odd leaf, pages otherwise generally bright and clean throughout. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
