About This Item
An early reprint of this 1947 best-seller. Very Good in a Good+ dustjacket. Decorative cloth boards, jacket designed by Samuel Bryant and illustrated with sketches by Agness Newton Keith and Don Johnston. Solid binding, square with sharp corners. The interior is clean and free of any markings. The dustjacket is unclipped but does not show any price, with chipping at head and foot of spine and minor wear at extremities. Protected in a Brodart archival cover. The author's memoir describes the period of Japanese occupation of Borneo between beginning of 1942 and September 1945, and her family's survival in a Japanese prison camp. Basis for the 1950 film with Claudette Colbert and Sessue Hayakawa. Carefully packaged and shipped in a box.
