The author, born in Poland, served in the merchant navies of France and Britain before turning to full-time writing in England. This handsome reprint edition with striking color illustrations by Robert Shore and an introduction by Leo Gurko. --- In Shore-illustrated paper-covered boards backed in blue cloth, with titling in gilt on red and black spine block. Volume housed in blue paper-covered slipcase. Sandglass flyer laid in (Avon, no. VII:37). --- With a bit of sunning to spine, scratches to title block on spine, and prior owner's bookplate affixed to front paste-down, otherwise a bright, clean, tightly-bound copy. Slipcase with a touch of sunning, else structurally sound.; Collection; Small Quarto - 9 to 11 in. tall; xv, 251 pages .
