Macmillan and Co., Ltd., 1938. Hardcover. Very Good. G.L. Stampa. An early edition, as First edition was issued in 1930. A Very Good volume, top edge gilt (still bright). Red cloth with an embossed circular gold elephant on front cover is gently rubbed overall; bright gilt spine titles. Barely worn corner tips with just starting to fray foot of spine cloth. Interior is clean and tight (NO markings) with minor age-toning to end-papers. Some webbing slightly exposed to a few interior gutters, but still a Very tight text block. No jacket. Fabulous b/w illustrations throughout. 200 pages plus two pages of publishers ads at rear.
