About This Item
London: The Thames Barrage Association, 1944. This interesting book was written at the time when London's post-war reconstruction was being considered. The proposal was for a bridge incorporating a barrage, locks and a short ship canal to be located at Woolwich. The scheme's intention was for health, navigation and aesthetic reasons - the need to prevent flooding was not considered to be necessary at that time. 124 pages. Many b/w photographs, maps, drawings and other illustrations. Maps to the endpapers. Green cloth boards in jacket. Condition: The jacket is very torn, though without loss. There is a previous owner's name inscribed to the endpaper's reverse. Every book is sent in a rigid cardboard posting box.. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Poor. 25.5 Cm x 19 Cm.
