About This Item

London: Methuen, 1955. First Printing. Hardcover. Good/good. Cloth ind ust jacket, good to very good in dust jacket with pencil signature on flyleaf of Henry Hewes and occasional pencil notes by him to the text. Hewes was a major drama critic, the chief reviewer for the Saturday Evening Post from 1955 to 1979 and the first such critic to devote space to regional and international theater. Although the book itself is the English first edition, the dust jacket is from an American copy and is slightly taller than the book. We have no explanation.
