New York: Doubleday, 1952. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First American edition. 8vo. 254 pp. Black cloth with white and blue lettered spine, very tiny bumps to two corners and lightly bumped spine ends, endpapers slightly yellowed around the edges, clean and bright throughout and the binding tight and square. Dust jacket with wear and creasing to the edges, a few short rips and lightly chipped corners, spine ends with heavier wear, the rear cover a little age-toned, with four small pieces of clear tape to the jacket verso to a few of the short rips, and golding in place a small chip at the spine head.
Synopsis
Margaret Allingham was a prolific writer who sold her first story at age eight and published her first novel before turning 20. Allingham went on to become one of the pre-eminent writers who helped bring the detective story to maturity in the 1920s and 1930s.
