First American edition, very good black cloth hardcover shows a very faint ring stain to front cover, rubbing to covers and cover edges, handful of tiny indent spots at rear cover, light lean to spine, tape remnants running length of both front and rear pastedowns with tape shadows to endpapers opposite from previous tape down of inner flaps, rental library notations at front endpaper, a handful of corner wrinkles to pages, gift shop ink stamps (3 to front endpaper, 1 to top page edges, 1 to rear endpaper and 1 to rear pastedown) and some other light trace wear, in very good dust jacket (price at flap) that shows ring stain visible at reverse of front panel, tape remnants at middle of fore edges of inner flaps, mild soil and edgewear that includes small closed tears and some very shallow open chipping at spine ends. 254 pages. Still a solid copy in jacket that was apparently part of rental library rented out by gift shop though there is indication by whom or when or how often etc. and there are no library marks. Still a solid copy in jacket of this mystery featuring Albert Campion.
Synopsis
Margaret Allingham was a prolific writer who sold her first story at age eight and published her first novel before turning 20. Allingham went on to become one of the pre-eminent writers who helped bring the detective story to maturity in the 1920s and 1930s.
