Hardcover bound in orange cloth. Moderate wear to the binding. The binding is a bit dulled from handling, but a sound copy and clean within. Illustrated with photos of African-American children in rural North Carolina. This was the copy of North Carolina author and historian Guy B. Johnson. Dr. Johnson is mentioned on the Acknowledgments page as one of those who read the manuscript before publication and for making helpful suggestions.
