London: Longmans, Green and Co, 1892 . First edition. Vellum. Very Good. 10.5" by 7.5". None. A very smart copy of this scarce, limited edition essay collection by John Richard Jefferies. Number 7 of 105 Limited Edition large paper copies printed of this first edition, illustrated, with a portrait frontispiece of the author.In two parts, Richard Jefferies includes essays titled 'The Farmer at Home', 'Field Faring Women', 'The Golden-Crested Wren', 'John Smith's Shanty' and 'The Labourer's Daily Life'. Jefferies was an English nature writer, noted for his depiction of English rural life in essays, books of natural history, and novels. His childhood on a small Wiltshire farm had a great influence on him and provides the background to all of his major works. In the publisher's original half vellum binding, with paper covered boards. Discolouration to paper vellum, with bumping to spine tail. Marks to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Light offsetting to title page, with pages otherwise clean and bright. Very Good
