Vol.#1 in the second Tom Swift YA series, which was comprised of 33 volumes written under the pseudonym Victor Appleton II. Originally published in 1954, this book is part of the second Picture Cover series from the 1960s, in the Gold spine editions (for the earlier Blue spine version, see our listing #019829 ). With decorative paper over boards, in 208 pages with a plain frontispiece, endpapers, & internal drawings by illustrator Graham Kaye. It is a later printing, listing to book #20 in both front matter & on back cover. Condition is just Good: generally very clean, binding straight & strong, hinges intact, pages creamy white with very mild tanning/dust dulling to outside edges. This is an ex-lib copy, with the ffep torn out (presumably to remove card pocket), some markings on title page, nowhere else. NO writing/underlining/highlighting. Flaws: moderate-heavy rubbing to extremities, especially at both ends of spine & all corners. NO DJ, as issued.
