"The first volume of the Science Series, entitled The University of Missouri Studies, is an excellently illustrated monograph on the topography of the thorax and abdomen, by Peter Potter, now Associate Professor of Anatomy in St. Louis University. The work is a revised and enlarged edition of a thesis presented to the University of Missouri in I903 for the degree of Master of Arts, and is based on work done in the anatomical laboratory of the University of Missouri in I901. The object of the work is to add to the few detailed observations upon the inter-relations of the organs as found in a single body. For this purpose a body was studied by the method of sections, with reference to the more important thoracic and abdominal organs and systems; these are described individually, topography of the part and its relations to surrounding objects being given in each case, and the results compared with literature of the subject. The book is a record of laborious work which reflects the highest credit on the author." (British Medical Journal, Dec. 30, 1905). Listed in Index-Catalog of the Library of the Surgeon-General's Office, United States Army, 1914. Thomas Jefferson Murray (1855-1930) served as the vice-president of the American Medical Association, president of the Montana State Board of Medical Examiners, and President of Butte's Silver Bow Club. He was actively involved in planning and construction of the Silver Bow Club’s 1906 building, and ran the Murray Hospital at the corner of Quartz and Alaska Sts. in historic downtown Butte.
