About This Item

New York, 1944 Special program produced for the May 25, 1944 Red Cross benefit concert given by the NBC and Philharmonic Symphony Orchestras, Arturo Toscanini conducting. Opera excerpts dominate; Jan Peerce was the soloist for the final piece "Hymn of the Nations." The program features a brief bio of Toscanini with 3 pages of photos; information on The Red Cross; background notes on each piece in the program - each with a full-page facing illustration, and 30 pages of advertising. It is bound in lovely pictorial wrapper with pastel artwork of hands conducting on front. The wrapper has a few spottings to both front and rear panel, edges lightly rubbed, but is overall clean and attractive. Pages near fine - light rubbing to thumb edges but otherwise clean and complete. Binding firm, no splits or cracks. 9-1/8 x 12-1/4"; 56 pages. Wrapper. Very Good. 4to.
