About This Item
Stated First Edition; A Near Fine book in a Very Good dust jacket. A handsome copy of this debut novel from the author of "On the Road" and "Big Sur"; one of the most influential writers of the 20th Century. This copy is in near fine condition showing only light rubbing to the board edges, a faint foxing to the page edges, and a previous owner's stamp to the front free paper. Housed in a clean and bright very good dust jacket that shows moderate rubbing and chipping to the spine ends, edges, and corners, a small dampstain to the top of the back panel, and a couple of short closed tears to the spine foot. Overall, a highly collectible and presentable copy; Not remaindered, not price clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar sleeve and will ship carefully wrapped in a sturdy box.
Synopsis
The Town and the City is a novel by Jack Kerouac, published by Harcourt Brace in 1950. This was the first major work published by Kerouac, who later became famous for his second novel On the Road (1957). Like all of Jack Kerouac's major works, The Town and the City is essentially an autobiographical novel, though less directly so than most of his other works.
