BOOKS SHIP THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, WRAPPED IN PADDING, IN A BOX. In November 1991, Allan Chasanoff donated 950 photographs to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The museum published a catalogue documenting the collection. In addition, 171 works were on display in the Anne Tucker-curated exhibition Tradition and the Unpredictable: The Allan Chasanoff Photographic Collection from January 16 through March 27, 1994. This publication, the catalogue for the exhibition, consists of four parts: 1) a printed slipcase with drawer: 8.5 x 8.25 x 3 inches; 2) 180 - 8 x 8-inch loose cards: 171 are b&w and color plates with titles printed on verso representing the entire exhibition, 6 are printed with text, and three blank; 3) a 147-page paperback with 950 b&w reproductions of photographs representing the entire donation; and 4) a 25-page staple-bound booklet with texts by Charles H. Traub and Anne W. Tucker and an interview with Allan Chasanoff by Vince Aletti and Anne W. Tucker. Photographers include Avedon, Arbus, Brassai, Callahan, Friedlander, Gowin, Groover, Kenna, Mann, Mapplethorpe, Misrach, Man Ray, Serrano, Siskind, Sommer, Sudek, Francesca Woodman, and Witkin among others.
