The top edge of the front cover is torn and creased at the top. Paper covering on the spine is missing. There is a heavily chipped brown wrapper at the front and the back, but we don't know if this was part of how it was published or if someone placed a brown wrapper around it for protection later. The brown wrappers are tattered. The text of the book is sound, and the text is generally clean. Laid in loosely is an 1894 newspaper clipping on the Syricac manuscript as well as a narrow sheet of paper with early handwritten notes on "Peculiarities of Syriac Gospels.
