Original blue cloth, dust jacket; cloth very lightly faded with time and dust jacket with minor tears and abrasions to the edges; inner hinge of upper board beginning to crack, yet a sound and attractive copy.
First American edition, published same year as the London edition. Standard travel book to Rome, a complete success that went through a number of editions. Morton's books on Rome and Italy in general are highly regarded and sought after by the collector of travel literature. Well-illustrated with plates.
