Early account of the westward migration to Oregon. "Farnham was the leader of…the 'Peoria Party.' leaving [in]… 1839, the party followed the Santa Fe Trail in Bent's Fort…where they divided. Farnham…traveled up the Arkansas, over the divide to the North Platte River, and ...continued to Oregon..." Wagner-Camp, which also quotes Streeter quoting Herschel Jones: "This is the first and most interesting of the several books on the West...the best account of the first overland-to-Oregon migration of settlers."
