London: Printed for J. Johnson and Co., 1811.. FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY. 4to. (27.75 x 22.5 cm). pp.xiii+[2, directions to the binder and errata]+407+36 [appendix]+[7, index]. Uncut in recent half calf over marbled boards, red morocco label, spine gilt decorated. 13 plates comprising one engraved folding map of Cadiz (with minor loss to lower margin not affecting map), 11 aquatinted plates, and one line-engraving. With a presentation inscription from the author to a Miss Crowe to f.f.e.p. Light toning and occasional light spotting. William Jacob (1762-1851), English merchant, ship owner and parliamentarian. Arriving at Cadiz on a diplomatic mission in September 1809, he stayed in Andalusia for 6 months, during which time he wrote the present work. The illustrations include views and buildings in Seville, Malaga, Granada including the Alhambra, and Gibraltar. (Abbey Travel, 145).
