San Francisco: Office of the Mining and Scientific Press, 1868. First edition . Hardcover. 260 pages illustrated with 120 diagrams on seven large folding plates mounted on guards. A few of the plates with small closed tears. Personal copy of "F.G. Lockhart, Empire City, Coos Bay, Org." with his signature on the first preliminary page. Lockhart, auditor of Coos County, and Perry B. Marple contested seating as a member for the Oregon Constitutional Convention of 1857. Marple won. Bound in original brown cloth with border stamped in blind and lettering on the spine in gilt. Covers show soiling. Area of water staining on the front cover and the front and rear endpapers. A bit of foxing to the endpapers and less to the plates. A scarce title on gold and silver ore processing.
