About This Item
London: William Pickering, 1836. First edition, 8vo, pp. xvi, 588, 9; contemporary green cloth, brown morocco spine label lettered in gilt, partially unopened; a very good copy with minor shelf-wear, short tear to cloth at lower joint, hinges just starting. Presentation copy, inscribed to the author of The Ingoldsby Legends, "The Revd. R.H. Barham from his friend The Author." The work is chiefly devoted to discussion of the claim of William Knollys to be Earl of Banbury, and discrediting the soundness of the principles upon which the Banbury judgement was founded.
