The book and dust jacket are both in NEAR FINE condition. Green cloth. The text block is tight and the pages are extremely clean. The only marks are some faint shadowing marks on the endpapers from tape that was used on a plastic dust jacket cover which was taped to itself across the flyleaves of the jacket. The old dust jacket cover has kept the DJ in near pristine condition, with just a very slightly faded spine. The jacket is also price clipped. Now freshly preserved in a loose clear film dust jacket sleeve (which does not adhere to the book or the jacket in any way)." Fairy-stories are not just for children... In his essay, 'On Fairy-stories', which forms the first part of this book, he [Tolkien] rescues them, on the one hand, from the academics - the philologists and anthropologists - and, on the other, from those who would relegate them to "juvenilia".'
