Jevne & Almini.. [ 1866].. Tinted lithograph, image approximately 8 1/2 x 12 inches on sheet size 11 1/2 x 14 3/4 inches. Three binding holes at left edge, with small paper loss at one binding hole and 1/4 inch tear (repaired) at another binding hole; short tear (repaired) at lower margin, three short edge tears at upper edge, a very few light foxing spots in upper image. Overall good to very good condition. Lithographic view of Chicago by Louis Kurz from the series Chicago Illustrated with descriptive material by James W. Sheahan. Published in installments by Jevne & Almini (1866). Each of the thirteen installments, issued in paper wraps, contained four tinted lithographs printed by the Chicago Lithographing Company. These lithographs represent scarce pre-fire views of the city, this portraying the enormous Tremont House with its grand entrance at busy intersection suggestive of a prosperous and cultured city. .
