About This Item

Birmingham, Alabama: The Notable Trials Library, 1989. [1989] First Special Edition Black Hardcover, Quarter-Bound in Genuine Leather (spine stamped in 22-karat gold) by The Notable Trials Library. This is a Fine Binding with gilt designs and lettering, gilt on all edges, five raised ridges on spine, marbled endpapers, special premium text paper, satin bookmark, 565 pages. Includes several vintage illustrations. For this edition, the famous Alan M. Dershowitz wrote the Introduction. Condition: Minor rubbing to the gilt on the fore-edge; a tiny stain at the foot of two pages of preliminaries; a bookplate on the first pastedown endpaper with the name of the former owner. Else, this Special Edition book is in Like New condition. Never read. Collector purchased book new and kept in a temperature-controlled room; there are no smoke smells from cigarettes or cigars. This is an excellent overview of Bruno Richard Hauptmann who was convicted in 1935 of the kidnap-murder of Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr. - the 20-month-old son of America's beloved couple. The murdered baby's father was Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh, who captured the imagination of the world by flying solo across the Atlantic. His marriage to Anne Morrow, daughter of a popular politician, approximated a royal wedding. The execution of Hauptmann is frequently cited as an instance of the capital punishment of an innocent defendant, according to famed Alan M. Dershowitz. Very collectible Fine Binding book. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly. . 1/4-Leather Bound. Fine.
