'S-Gravenhage, Netherlands: H. P. Leopold`s Uitgevers-Maatschappij, 1940. Oversized hardcover without dust jacket, 365 pages including 187 Figures (drawings), plus XL Plates (black-and-white photographs);---text in Dutch---;very gently used, tight in binding, cover edges and corners have hardly a trace of shelf wear, front cover gilt lettering very bright and clear but spine gilt lettering faded and rubbed to obscurity, foxing to top and fore edges and also dust speckling to top edge, tiny bookplates inside both covers designed by previous owner (Dutch-Canadian silhouette artist and graphic designer Hans-Detlev Voss who still lived and worked in The Netherlands during the 1930s/1940s; this is his personal copy acquired from his estate), all Plates and facing pages have light foxing, but all other page very clean and unmarked, remarkably fresh and white for cheap wartime paper.
