Description:
New York: W. W. Norton, 1994. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Near fine. Rogovin, a photographer born in 1909, took portrait photographs in the multi-ethnic lower west side of Buffalo, New York, in 1973. He returned again in the mid-1980s and in 1992 and photographed the same subjects. The three images, showing children growing into adulthood and parents becoming elderly, families coming together and splitting apart, are presented side-by-side, across each double-page spread. With commentary by Robert Coles, Stephen Jay Gould, and Joanne Wypijewski. 142 pages. 12 by 9-3/8 inches. 141 pages. First edition (first printing, with a numberline ending in 1). A very good or better copy in a like dust jacket. Signed by Rogovin opposite the title page. This was Stephen Jay Gould's copy, with a posthumous bookplate denoting the provenance on the front pastedown.
