New York: Gottlieb Chain, n.d. (1939). Folding promotional flyer for the George A. Gottlieb Chain of "residence clubs", i.e. SROs, in New York City at the end of the Depression. Gottlieb gained control of existing hotels and apartment buildings and turned them into "residence clubs" with Ivy League names and rooms, with communal kitchens and baths, renting for as low as $1.50 a day. Brochure shows exteriors of 7 buildings, with photos of some generic interiors and amenities. Most eventually re-converted into apartment buildings--Oxford Club now the building with the Seinfeld Diner, another is a Columbia dorm, the Princeton Residence Club on W. 23rd St. is no longer with us. Sheet folded three times. Illustrated from photographs and drawings. A fine copy..
