A first US edition, first impression copy of this collection of short works by critically-acclaimed novelist John Irving. The first US edition, first impression of this work in the publisher's original quarter cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Trying to Save Piggy Sneed features twelve short works divided into three sections: Memoirs, Fiction, and Homage. This varied collection includes an account of Irving's dinner with President Reagan at the White House, an essay of appreciation for Charles Dickens, and "Interior Space", a short story originally published in Fiction magazine in 1980. In publisher's original quarter cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth and boards are in lovely condition, with bright gilt lettering; only one very small bump to the lower extremity of the front board. Internally, firmly bound.
