Published in a small print run, it traces the early history of the Creek Indian Nation and early explorers to its early ranching, pioneering, industrial development and how it became the "Oil Capital of the World." Since Angie Debo had already written about the Creeks, she knew their early unwritten history and how Indian, Pioneer, Ranching and Oil became its significant history. After tracing the early history through the Civil War, she begins with the coming of the railroad in 1882 and the discovery of petroleum in 1901. This is the best introduction to capturing the spirit of Tulsa and its importance in the modern world. Bound in red cloth, spine lettering brown, one corner slightly bumped, near fine in very good unclipped decorative dust jacket with chip to head, crease along upper edge and short closed edge tear to upper edge of rear panel.
