University of London Press Ltd, London, 1953. Reprint. Hardcover (Illustrated Boards). Good Condition/Poor. Illustrator: Nina K. Brisley. foreword by author. The text is illustrated with numerous small black-and-white drawings by Nina K. Brisley. Light green coloured cloth covered boards with black coloured illustration to the front panel and black coloured titles to back strip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, again by Nina K. Brisley, with black coloured titles to the front panel and blue and pink coloured titles to the back strip. As the title would suggest, 20 tales to read too young children. Softening of the back strip edges with fading to the edges, commensurate with loss of dustwrapper. Bumping to the top book corners and again fading of the cloth due to loss of dustwrapper. Uniform tanning of the text block edges and pages with some scattered foxing of the text block edges. Some foxing to the first few and last few pages of and there has been dog earing of the lower corner of the pages to page 23. The dustwrapper is in not great shape – please see photograph. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and the top and lower edge of the back strip are missing. There our pieces missing to the top left-hand corner, right-hand corner and lower central edge of the front panel. Tears with associated creasing to the top edge of the rear panel and a small pieces missing to the lower edge. Rubbing to the dustwrapper edges and panels with handling marks to the back strip and rear panel. Foxing to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [6], 7 - 189, [1] pages,.
