Bumping to spine ends, corners, and tail edge of boards. Dust jacket has red and black lettering, sunning and chipping to spine and edges, some light soiling. Eight B&W plates. Pencil ownership inscription to FFEP. This book is the story, as told to Leonard Johnstone, of Sir Arthur Munro Sutherland. Sutherland looks back over the years and brings to life a notable period of North-East coast history. Shipping, ship-building, the coal trade, civic affairs, the development of the river Tyne as a premier trading port and the centre of world trade in coal exporting.
