About This Item
1pp., approximately 100 words. On personal stationery, with the author's embossed, foil-stamped, initials within a circular design. Typed address of: "The Bungalow," Granite Bay, Short Beach, Connecticut. To: "My dear Mrs. Freshel:- I thank you for your note and the delightful quatrain on the carnivorous bishop. I wish I had written the lines myself. I was rather distressed on the publication of my article in the Ameican to see that I, or the type-setter, or proof reader, had neglected to include other passages in quoatation marks beside those that were from Mr. Moore's wonderful book, but as printed seemed to be original with me...." The recipient of this letter was Emarel Freshel, (Maud Russell Lorraine Freshel 1867-1949) a Boston socialite, designer, and vegetarian activist. Ella Wheeler Wilcox, (1850-1919), American poet, jounalist and free thinker. Mailing fold, else very good. .
