About This Item
American pianist and composer ("To a Messenger," "I Came with a Song," "Like a Rosebud") who studied under Leschetizsky in Vienna; he toured as accompanist with Marcella Sembrich and Frances Alda and was much sought after as a voice teacher for the likes of Marian Anderson and Lawrence Tibbett. TLS, 1p, 5½" X 8½", New York, NY, 1925 November 10. Addressed to John G. Leiser, a Chicago music school founder. Fine. On letterhead of the "La Forge-Berumen Studios," La Forge sends this friendly note to an admirer: "It is always most gratifying to know that one's efforts are enjoyed and appreciated. I enclose an article that I think you will find of interest. I was born at 303 South Court St., Rockford, Ill...." Original envelope present. The photograph he mentions sending under separate cover is not present, but the front portion of the oversize envelope (11" X 8¼") is, addressed in La Forge's hand and also signed by him.
