Fine in 1/4 dark brown leather and printed paper covered boards with bold gilt text on the spine, floral decorated paper end sheets and with the top edge of the text block stained light green. Without a dust jacket as issued; however, the book is contained within a near fine, illustrated paper covered slip case with modest tanning at its opening and around the outside edges. The book is subtitled: "A Peep At Polynesian Life During A Four Months' Residence In A Valley Of The Marquesas". 324 pages of text illustrated throughout with nautical motif line drawings. The Christmas 1962 issue by Westvaco which is the 5th volume in Westvaco's annual American Classic series.
