Quarto (12 7/8 x 9 3/4 inches; 325 x 250 mm), 173, [3] pages, black cloth, in a photo-illustrated, unclipped dust jacket.

INSCRIBED on the half title to fellow photographer David Gamble.

Playing off the title, Doisneau writes to Gamble: "Un Certain Robert Doisneau, transforme un certain David Gamble / en receleur / car toutes ces imàges ont été volées / au hasard des rencontres. / En toute complicité / Robert Doisneau / avril 1990" (Translation: "A certain Robert Doisneau transforms a certain David Gamble into a smuggler because all of these images were stolen from chance encounters. In complete complicity, Robert Doisneau April 1990").

Profusely illustrated with black and white and a few color photographs, captioned by Doisneau (1912-1994), spanning his career, including a "scrapbook" of family photos. Cover image by Henri Cartier-Bresson. Text in French.

CONDITION: Fine in a dust jacket with two closed edge tears on the top of the rear panel along with a couple of scratches and creases. Internally, clean, bright, and unmarked. A beautiful copy.
