About This Item
Barcelona: Ediciones Destino, 1948. First Edition. Text in Spanish. Two volumes. Alfred Hitchcock’s copy, signed and inscribed to Hitchcock by the author, Angel Zuniga. Inscribed on the title page: “To Alfred Hitchcock, the best among our betters. With admiration, Angel Zuniga.” A history of cinema which is the era in which a massive history of film and Alfred Hitchcock is discussed in various places in both volumes. Illustrated with photographs. Later, Hitchcock donated these books along with other volumes to a Los Angeles university, and this book has the subtle stamps with the withdrawn stamp. A very good tight set in original cloth with excellent colorful dust jackets, one showing a close-up of Charlie Chaplin’s face, and the other a close-up of Greta Garbo. Angel Zuniga’s work was the highly influential volume on film in Spain, Mexico, and Latin America for decades.
