Some rubbing to the cloth, mostly to the spine. Still about a Very Good copy and quite scarce when signed. A. B. Frost. Reprint of an edition first published in 1895. Publisher's decorated red cloth. Illustrated with ten (of eleven) full-page plates by A. B. Frost. This copy SIGNED by the author and dated 1908 on the front endpaper and scarce as such. Contemporary photograph of an elderly woman holding a baby laid in, its presence a puzzle to us.

Synopsis

The dialect, lore, and flavor of black life in the nineteenth-century South is portrayed as it appeared to Georgia-born Joel Chandler Harris in Uncle Remus’s "Legends of the Old Plantation."
