About This Item

London: Macmillan & Co., 1895. Book. Fair. Hardcover. Macmillan's Colonial Library. Original dark green cloth, lettered in gilt on spine. Rear board quite dulled with trace of removed label, corners scuffed, inner joint papers lightly cracked, bookplate of South African Public Library on front pastedown, accession date stamp (4 June 1895) on title page with handwritten note on verso, small stamp at top of first page of text, thus fair only. Cromarty wrote novels set in Scotland or -- as here -- in Yorkshire and Lancashire. Most of her adult novels are scarce..
