About This Item
New York: G. P. Putnam, 1862. Third edition in which the publisher changed the title from Undercurrents of Wall Street). Octavo. 428, 17[1], pp. Publisher's blind ruled green cloth with gilt spine lettering, brown endpapers. A very good copy.Merited a 23-page review in the July 1963 issue of The North American Review. "Mr. Kimball combines in an unusual degree literary talent, and a knowledge of mercantile affairs as transacted in the daily life of city and country. He has, consequently, been able to inaugurate a new style of novel, and may fairly be considered the creator of the Romance of Business. In his hands it takes a form as distinct as the naval, military, sentimental, sensational or any other class into which the popular fictions of the day naturally fall."
