London: Verona Society, 1930. Fictional account of travel and mis-adventure, first published in 1594, influenced by the Spanish picaresque novel then in vogue in London; the author was a popular writer there in the late 1500s. Illustrated with spirited woodcuts plus head and tail pieces & decorated initials cut by Haydn Mackey; of 1000 copies printed by the Alcuin press, this is one of only 300 of them with colored illustrations, though unnumbered. Hardcover, full tan cloth, gilt titling. Shows light wear, bumped corners, darkened spine & irregular darkening & foxing to the covers; minor sporadic staining within; jacket missing. Text & plates clean; xxvi, [6], 161 pages.. Limited/Numbered. Cloth. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Haydn Mackey. 6" by 9".
