Richmond: Wm. Ellis Jones, Steam Book and Job Printer, 1896. First Edition First Printing . Soft cover. Fair. Octavo. 38 pages. Soft cover bound in green printed paper wrappers. The binding is worn and chipped; LACKS the rear cover, but it does have the rear flyleaf (a blank). Chipped on the fore and bottom edges of the front cover. There is also a split in the paper on the front cover at the top left near the spine. The text itself is generally clean. INSCRIBED at the top of the front cover, "Colyer Meriwether with Compliments of the Author." (Weeks did not actually sign his own name). Reprinted from the Southern Historical Society Papers, Volume XXIV. Scarce. Now housed in a removable plastic sleeve with a board backing. Colyer Meriwether (1858-1920) was an historian and educator from South Carolina. He was the Secretary and Treasurer of the Southern History Association, and he was the author of "History of Higher Education in South Carolina" (1889).
