About This Item

Vandenberg AFB: Strategic Air Command, 1966. First Edition . Stapled Folding Portfolio. Fine. Quarto. Vandenberg Air Force Base. Strategic Air Command, no date, but 1966. First/only edition. Quarto, light blue printed stapled portfolio folder, with materials inside, itself enclosed in large dark blue printed vinyl zippered protective case. An informational kit for the military guests at the impending "Visit of NATO Military Committee / 3 October 1966", the agenda for which, including a Schedule of Events (with the viewing of a missile launch) and a luncheon seating chart for 72 named members of the attending brass from several nations, largely generals and colonels, is included. Other folder contents include two 8 1/2" x 11" glossy black and white photographs of USAF generals, a black and white line map of the Western Test Range (primarily over the Pacific Ocean), another simplified map of the same; four glossies of missile firings - two of these are black and white, labeled on the reverse "CLEARED FOR RELEASE - Office of Information, Air Force Western Test Range, Vandenberg AFB", and bearing captions; two are in color and marked "U.S. Air Force Photo / 369th Photo Squadron - AAVS (MAC) - UNCL - not cleared for public release without prior written approval from the responsible office of information services". But that was 1966, and I wouldn't have these if that were still an issue now. I think. Also, "Vandenberg Area Directory 66/67" (28 pp); small "USAF TITAN III" pamphlet; Photo-illustrated 3-page article, "USAF Western Test Range" by Brig. Gen. J.S. Bleymaier, Commander, AFWTR; 9-page "National Range Division", reprinted from the 1/66 issue of The Airman; a four-page timeline of all major events at the AFWTR, October 1947 through August 1966, shortly before this meeting; an 8 1/2" x 11" paper chart, Titan Family of Missiles and Space Boosters, showing six generations of the Titan missile in black silhouette; four news releases; a three-page "Visitors Information"; and ten "Background" releases by the Office of Information. All materials are in fine condition. The enlcosing light blue printed heavy paper portfolio does show two light stain spots on its front. Zippered vinyl case is fine. A collector's kit, now. Try to find another one of these. L-100
