About This Item
A.O.P. Nicholson, Washington, D.C., 1855. 11 1/2 X 9 3/8" in red leather with gilt lettering on the spine. Very lightly soiled, a little rubbing at spine extremities, bottom corners very slightly bumped. Foxed. Volume II only. This 150 year old book is in really remarkable shape. It is tight and solid feeling. The plates - all 35 of them, are marvelous. Several are hand colored. There are also 2 maps and 11 woodcut illustrations. Most of the book is comprised of an amazingly detailed report on a journey "across the Andes and Pampas of the Argentine Provinces." Included in the discussion are reports on Indian Antiquities, Chilean minerals, birds - shown in beautiful color plates- fish and other animals. Really a remarkable volume - and quite handsome. M/S/ENV. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket.
