Publisher's half cloth and boards, remnant of printed spine label; light wear and soiling to boards, sporadic foxing, tears to pp. 175-178 costing a few letters but not impairing legibility, a crisp, unsophisticated copy "Contains recipes for making about everything potable. The author promotes the domestic production of beverages so as not to be at the mercy of foreign powers" (Cagle). Includes sections on the making of artificial and imitation wines and spirits, brewing beer and cider, salting and curing meat and fish, pickling and preserving.
