U.S. Navy, 1962. Hardcover. Very Good+/No Jacket - as issued. 2 Volume Large Hardcover Set, First volume is the Northern Europe Cruise book for the USS Dahlgren 1962 U.S. Navy Unpaginated. Very Good+, no DJ - as issued. Minor shelf/edge wear and rubbing to black pebble-grain cloth boards with white titles - corners lightly bumped. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. Photographic endpapers. Documents the Northern European Cruise of the USS Dahlgren on June 6th, 1962. Called the "Shakedown Cruise" by the C.O. C.E. Landis. It traveled the North sea, the Kattegat and the Skagerak, the Gulf of Bothnia, the Kiel Canal, through the North Sea, the English Chanel and the Straits of Gibralter, into Tangiers, Naples, Theoules, as well as Portsmouth and Plymouth and the cities of the Scandia Countries. Wonderful photographic representation of the ship and crew and the many places they visited. Very handsome vintage copy. Scarce. Second volume is the Mediterrenean Cruise book for the USS Dahlgren 1963 U.S. Navy Unpaginated. This copy is Very Good, no DJ - as issued. Minor shelf/edge wear and rubbing to blue textured cloth boards with light green titles and accents - corners lightly bumped. Front endpapers are photographic and the rear endpapers are a map of the cruise locations and the route. On this cruise they visited Athens, the Italian Alps, a Children's party in Bari, Italy, Sicily, Palermo, Catania, and Monaco. Very respectable vintage copy. Scarce as well. Both cruise books are for the same ship and the same Commanding Officer for the years 1962 and 1963. Great vintage copies. LOC SSM-03
