London, 1 March 1844. 3 pp. 7 x 4 inches, in very good condition, one pinhole. Charles Gordon-Lennox, 5th Duke of Richmond (1791-1860), was aide-de-camp to Wellington in the Peninsula and France (1810-14). During the campaign in the Netherlands he was aide-de-camp to the Prince of Orange, and after the prince had been wounded at Waterloo, joined Wellington’s staff as an extra aide-de-camp. He was Postmaster General from 1830 to 1834.

UK, 1851. First Edition . Paper. Good. 48mo - over 3 - 4" tall. An Original Handwritten and Signed Letter by Waterloo Soldier and Peer Charles Gordon-Lennox, 5th Duke of Richmond. Dated 1851. A letter confirming a meeting with Robert Campbell a doctor. Charles Gordon-Lennox, 5th Duke of Richmond 1791-1860 was a British peer, soldier and prominent Conservative politician. During the Battle of Waterloo (1815) he was aide-de-camp to the Prince of Orange, and following the latter's wounding, served as aide-de-camp to Wellington. He was chiefly responsible for the institution in 1847 of the Military General Service Medal for all survivors of the campaigns between 1793 and 1814. Size is 183m x 110mm. Condition is good.
