The Commissioners on the Public Records of the Kingdom, 1834. First Edition . Hardcover. Good. Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. 1834, G, 1st ed, 1 map, Vol 6 only. Containing amongst others notices of The Churches in the Dioceses of Bangor and Saint Asaph. In contemporary green marbled cloth covers, bumped and weakened at the corners and edges, with some stains front and rear. Spine has a paper label with the title printed on in type, a little worn and sunned, edges bumped. Internally, has the Lord Commissioners presentation slip to fep, [8], (lx), [2], 3-344 pp, 1 map (coloured & folding), printed by George Eyre and Andrew Spottiswoode, London in 1833, folio 19 * 15 inch. (Lowndes 2751/2059) Contents include Notices Of The Churches in the Dioceses of Bangor and Saint Asaph. This is the report of an ecclesiastical survey made pursuant to statute 26, Henry VIII, 1534, for ascertaining the yearly values of all the possessions, manors, lands, &etc, appertaining to any monastery, priory, church, parsonage, vicarage, free chapel, &etc withing England, Wales, Calais, Berwick & the Marches. Caley, antiquary to whose influence were attributed many of the scandals which brought the commission into such ill repute. Much was left to his discretion, a situation which he turned to his own benefit. Sir Henry Cole, William Illingworth, and others testified that, owing to Caley's systematic neglect of duty, records were poorly arranged and bound, with frequent errors in lettering and dates. Incorrect item delivered: The title, cover or edition of the book is different than the title on the order. Item not received: The estimated delivery date has passed and the book has still not arrived. To cancel a book order or return a book simply contact Madoc with your order confirmation details and to obtain the return address.

DELIVERY DETAILS We ship all of our orders via Royal Mail. Orders are usually shipped within 2 or 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized or a multiple in books we will contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Insurance costs are usually dictated by the shippers, should they be higher than normal, then we will contact you for your acceptance.
