Le retable de L'Agneau mystique, achevé en 1432 par Jan Van Eyck et commencé par son frère Hubert en 1420, constitue sans aucun doute une oeuvre fondamentale de la Renaissance flamande. Il s'agit de la première réalisation, de Jan Van Eyck (v. 1390-Bruges 1441) qui, installé au coeur de la culture de la cour bourguignonne et initiateur de la nouvelle peinture flamande, se situe à la jonction entre deux mondes opposés : le gothique tardif et la première Renaissance. Empreinte d'une dimension surnaturelle, d'un réalisme aigu et d'une surprenante sensualité, cette peinture de la "liturgie céleste" est une synthèse de l'art de son époque, tout en étant annonciatrice des oeuvres à venir. Ce livre, véritable essai en images, situe tout d'abord l'univers et l'époque du peintre, puis décrit globalement L'Agneau mystique, pour ensuite parcourir l'oeuvre d'une façon minutieuse. L'auteur confronte alors cette oeuvre avec celles d'autres peintres, si possible d'une autre époque, et la replace dans une perspective européenne. Cette étude se termine par une analyse de la peinture "selon Van Eyck", en tentant de percer le secret de sa technique et de son talent. Grâce aux magnifiques illustrations et au "dialogue" que l'auteur a établi avec Van Eyck depuis des années, ce volume incite le lecteur à rencontrer un artiste à travers une oeuvre magistrale.

Terms and conditions of sale. Books are offered if unsold. The order of incoming orders will be respected strictly. Orders can be placed via e-mail (info@erik-tonen-books.be), or in writing, preferably not by telephone. The books that are offered online are not available at our bookshop at 48 Kloosterstraat. You will receive an e-mail confirming the availability of the book(s) and providing details with regard to shipment costs (we use Belgian and Dutch postal companies for the most cost-effective shipments. The indicated shipment costs have been calculated according to the rates for shipments of up to 2 kilo. We will choose the most cost-effective shipment option, depending on the weight: either letter post or parcel post. Payment must be made before delivery; ordered books will be reserved during 12 days in expectation of payment or confirmation of shipment. Payment can be made by transferring money to our Belgian bank; banktransfer IBAN BE48 4098 5839 0127 and the BIC (Bank Identifier Code)(swift) / KREDBEBB , Payment via Paypal account erik.tonen@pandora.be is also possible. Prices are net prices and free of VAT (margin arrangement) and expressed in euros. Shipment and payments costs are charged to the customer. Each shipment contains a delivery slip. Ordered books will remain our property until payment has been received. Our books are shipped in decently packaged form; The state of the books is not specified if the works are in good condtion (smaller, minor defects such as an ex libris stamp, a name on the first page, minimal wear and tear etc. are not specified, unless specifically requested).
