By the late Alfred Feeny. With portrait. London: Ward, Lock & Co., Limited, 1906. Half-tone portrait frontispiece from a photograph, with tissue guard; pp.318+[ii (blank)]; light- and mid- grey-green linen-patterned cloth blocked and lettered gilt on spine and front cover. Light foxing to prelims., otherwise a fine copy. A posthumous volume containing five short stories reprinted from Christmas Numbers of the ‘Birmingham Daily Post’: The Man in the Blue Spectacles; The Colonna Peril; The Mystery of the Round House; A Strange Step-Mother; and A Drama in the Air. Includes two locked room mysteries, whilst the final story has strong SF elements (in particular an anti-gravity gas), though these are not strictly speaking integral to it. The first story has been badly edited and appears to omit a couple of episodes vital to the sense.
All books listed by Robert Temple are first editions unless otherwise stated.
