About This Item

London: Thomas Scott. London, Thomas Scott, n.d. [1883]. First Edition. First Impression. Paperback. A near fine copy. A fantastic little book, inscribed. F. Anstey is the pseudonym of Thomas Anstey Guthrie (the pseudonym was meant to be T. Anstey, but the printers put F. by mistake and it stuck). Vice Versa, published the year before was highly successful and, as far as I can tell, the first body-swap story. A comedy, with a wonderful legacy - including Freaky Friday! Guthrie authorised an adaptation by Edward Rose, of which the present copy is one of those published. Additionally, the present copy has a letter glued in from Guthrie to Horace Pym (the present copy came from the auction of Pym's collection in 1996). A nice copy, with a little creasing and little toning. [10841, Hyraxia Books]. n.d. [1883] . Near Fine. Paperback. 1st Edition. 1883.
